JFETs are inserted into a custom 90-socket gold-pin ZIF test jig (30 devices per test). A well-regulated and carefully monitored DC supply voltage of 9.00V (not 9.01V) is applied while FETs are allowed to stabilize for at least 5 minutes before testing. Current (Idss) and voltage (Vgs) are then measured quickly on a calibrated Agilent 34401 6-1/2 digit meter. FETs are matched in pairs to within 0.03mA Idss AND 4mV Vgs. Most audio FET resellers on eBay don't match for both Idss and Vgs. In some cases, the matching is within 0.01mA and 1mV. We have bags of matched P-ch pairs (9-11mA range).
